It’s Christmas and our winter sale is almost here. From December 29th until January 23rd, we will be offering 15% off all orders over £1,000. Just quote coupon code JAN when placing an order.
The fabulous sofa you can see in our Christmas window is the Marc-U and we’ve had this one covered in a luxuriously rich velvety red fabric as befitting the season. Standing alongside the Marc-U is the stylish Mogg TRI.BE.CA. floor lamp, designed by Marzia & Leonardo Dainelli, with it’s clever USB dock built into the bottom shelf. This one’s in matt black but it’s also available in white. And to ward off the winter cold, our eco-friendly bio-ethanol fire from Cocoon is keeping the showroom nice and toasty. Italians, it’s always said, love babies and children, and nothing proves this more than the latest designs from Italian brand Battistella and their Nidi range of children’s furniture. We’re so impressed with their latest original, contemporary designs which combine style, imagination and tons of practical ideas. There are three collections to choose from based around the themes of art, nature …. and fun!
The fabulous Salone del Mobile last month, one of the world’s most exciting furniture fairs, attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors through its doors and had some truly amazing new designs on offer. We spotted so many superb pieces that we can’t wait to show you … so here’s a little taster of just a few of the great designs we spotted from two of our favourite brands.
Bonaldo is always ahead of the design field and never fails to impress us with its inspirational pieces. They also make incredible sofa beds … and what puts them ahead of the game is … that their sofa beds don’t LOOK like sofa beds – that’s the last thing you want in your living room! The new Bandy sofa bed, designed by Vittorio Prevedello, is no exception. It’s got a great modern-retro look to it along with removable fabric or leather covers, and edged stitching in the same or contrasting colours. It’s also a cinch to operate with an easy, manual mechanism designed to move the seat forward and simultaneously lower the backrest (because when you’re tired and you want to go to bed you really don’t want to be having a fight with a sofa bed!).
It’s the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness – if that isn’t just too romantic (and OK a bit over-used we know – but hey, it’s still lovely!). There’s quite a nip in the air and the clocks go back in a couple of weeks – definitely time to think about changing a few things for winter. And, according to some new research from the Sleep Council (spotted via the BBC news site) the average Brit at the moment is getting just six-and-a-half hours’ sleep a night. As usual, that’s down to a whole host of things but what the researchers could definitely say is: if you can increase your nightly sleep by even a bit (to over seven hours) you’ll be a lot healthier.
So, onto beds, our beds (a good bed has got to make a difference, right?) and Grand Designs Magazine, the November issue, is featuring one of ours big time. The new Bonaldo Eureka bed gets a fab write up and the GD team also highlight the autumnal mustard and anthracite accessories used alongside the Eureka’s fresh white headboard and base, with its super-sized anthracite grey stitching. Feeling sleepy anyone?
We’re still buzzing from our trip to Milan’s Salone del Mobile and all the incredibly inspiring new designs … lot’s of striking exhibition sets and new products – including Italian furniture-maker supreme Bonaldo. And one of the things that we love about Bonaldo (we know, we know – we’ve mentioned ‘love/Bonaldo’ in the same sentence before) is that there’s always an interesting little back story to everything they do.
Their Octa table (Octa’s Greek for eight… but you knew that…) is also the number of legs supporting this fabulous new table, with a look, we’re told, inspired by the traditional game of Mikado or pick-up sticks! Definitely a major game player as far as we’re concerned.
We have finally managed to get around to adding the latest products to the website from Italian brand Bonaldo (shown at the Milan furniture fair). Highlights are –
– The Blues dining chair for just £110, which is just fantastic value, can be used outdoors, & comes in several lovely colours, including the ever popular dove grey.
One of my absolute favourite brands is Bonaldo. They recently opened a new showroom (in Italy) & had a fantastic ‘Switched On’ party to launch. We were lucky enough to get an invite, & it was an amazing event. Incredible food (it is Italy after all), fantastic entertainment & plenty of Prosecco.
