The Wallpaper* Design Awards 2020 are out! And we’re thrilled to see that Tonelli Design’s Bands mirror is one of the lucky recipients.
The prestigious Wallpaper* Design Awards 2020 have honoured the Bands mirror in its ‘Moonlighting’ category – described by the judging panel as a chance to “shine a light on all things silvery”.
Bands is the the creation of angeletti ruzza design – design duo Silvana Angeletti and Daniele Ruzza. It’s a striking mirror with a frame given a raised reed-like effect. The mirror section comes in normal, gold, bronze or smoked glass. The effect is simply stunning.
Angeletti and Ruzza describe their winning design as inspired by, and in homage to, American artist Sol LeWitt’s celebrated work ‘Wall Drawing # 370’.
“For this project the glass was treated in an expressive and functional way. This was to give life to scenic interplay of light. The front ribbed-glass allows reflection and refraction through the three dimensional decoration.
The back is a silver glass sheet, in exclusive finishes such as bronze gold or smoked. Bands enhances the poetic feel of glass. It is a material that can really transform a setting, creating an ethereal, almost suspended atmosphere.”
