DaFrè. This highly respected Italian furniture maker had been on our radar for awhile. We knew of their reputation. Second to none. We knew their quality. Superb. We admired their style. Impeccable. And a visit to their Salone del Mobile stand this summer confirmed everything. We wanted to work with them.
DaFrè
Their story, as with many Italian furniture manufacturers, goes back a long way. It began in the 1950s with a group of highly skilled craftsmen who created their own co-operative to make wooden furniture.
Fast forward to today and this remarkable company has expanded and innovated. Their designs now incorporate everything from luxury beds, tables and sideboards to wall systems and wardrobes, including the hybrid of wardrobe/cupboard/wall unit DaFrè do so well.
These hybrid systems, for example, can be used as laundry cupboards, utility rooms or in entrance halls. In fact anywhere stylish storage is required. Their systems furniture also provides an enormous choice of designs and finishes with a large number of internal accessories.
Organisational storage
The DaFrè laundry room composition, above, is just one example of how their modular systems can be used. The units shown are available in different sizes. It’s also possible to customise the standard widths and heights, at no extra charge, to ensure a perfect fit.
There are lots of great internal accessories too including pull out racks and baskets, hanging rails, pull out ironing boards, and space for airing clothes. This particular composition also includes a sink made from a mineral/polyester composite in white. The beauty is that everything is optional. It’s a mix and match system of your choice. The work surface here is made of HPL (High Pressure Laminate – a special grade material even suitable for outdoors) and the units are also water repellent.
Finishes are gloriously varied. The system shown here is in white but there’s a wide choice of coloured or wood melamine, stucco and ‘concrete’, or matt and lacquered oak.
DaFrè wardrobes
If you’re looking for an example of DaFrè’s innovative qualities we could start in many places. However, let’s start with the Frame Sliding door wardrobe.
The Frame wardrobe is offered with unusual, lacquered, glass sliding doors. The images here show it with a striking silk screen printed striped pattern. Stunning. In addition to the silk screen printing, other finishes include matt lacquers, brushed oak matt lacquer, real wood veneers, mirrored, etched or gloss lacquered glass. Frame panels can be selected for every door or alternate doors. With so many choices the chance to make your wardrobe unique to you is definitely an option.
Customised designs
The Pomolo hinged door wardrobe is another great example of DaFrè’s customised flexibility. Again, it’s offered in fabulous finishes with superb detailed finishing touches. It comes in an amazing twelve sizes and four heights.
Each two-door Pomolo wardrobe includes (as standard) two hanging rails and one shelf per cabinet. But where the truly amazing flexibility comes in is the possibility to have the standard height, depth or width of the doors cut (straight across/up cuts only) or angle cut, at a surcharge. This therefore allows you to buy a true ‘fitted wardrobe’ in exactly the size you need. DaFrè details
As with all the beautiful details/finishing touches offered with DaFre’s hybrid furniture and wardrobes etc, their attention to detail with beds, for example, is second to none.
DaFre’s Ralph bed is a great example of what they do so well with upholstered furniture. Ralph has a beautifully tapered headboard with striking stitched detailing around the edge of the headboard and corners of the frame.
Additionally, the covers are also fully removable with spares available to buy if needed. Buying two or three spare covers is also a great way to easily re-style a bedroom with complementing or different colours/fabrics. It’s an easy and useful technique for warming up a room in winter or cooling down with more neutral shades in summer. Fabric choices are numerous, including eco-leather, or it’s possible (if suitable) for customers to supply their own fabric.
Along with superb systems furniture, wall units and wardrobes, DaFre’s other furniture offerings include tables and sideboards. As well as being incredibly good quality and stylish, they’re also remarkably good value.
Tables and sideboards
The exquisite Musa side board was designed by Carlo Marelli and Massimo Molteni (who also design for Lema, Porada, MisuraEmme, and Calligaris to name a few).
Musa’s contemporary good looks are defined by its rounded corners and the incline cut of the doors. The angled cut of the doors is cleverly continued through the metal feet. Along with an exquisite finish, offered in lots of striking matt colours, brushed coloured oaks and eco-woods, there’s the option for two practical drawers. As you would expect with DaFre these drawers can be lacquered in up to 29 different colours. So dare to be different! It’s always the details that count.
Stylish TV units, in our experience, are hard to find. So we were thrilled that the same Musa range also contains a TV unit – uber stylish and very practical. This too has an angle cut handle on the front of each wooden drawer, two large drawers and two internal shelves.
Designed to neatly store your media, there are holes at the back of the unit for cables. It’s also a neat size and respectable depth: 175cm wide x 52.7cm deep x 50cm high
