Go Modern is 10 + bringing the outdoors in!

Go Modern is 10 + bringing the outdoors in!

For the whole of the London Design Festival Go Modern discovered its green fingers.  We  transformed our Kings Road showroom into a ‘magical outdoor garden room – inside’.  The idea was to ‘bring the outdoors in’.  We wanted to showcase the very latest of our luxury outdoor furniture for the festival season. And we were also celebrating a very special anniversary.  As Go Modern is 10!

Go Modern is 10 + The London Design Festival

Along with the two week indoor garden installation, we had the pleasure of hosting a special Festival event.  Joining us for the evening was leading French designer Lionel Doyen.  Lionel has created many of outdoor specialist Manutti’s incredible furniture designs.  Also on our panel was Melanie Bernard of Sunbrella the world renowned all-weather fabric company.  Finally, the wonderful Hilde Baeklandt of Manutti who shared her knowledge and wisdom about all things relating to outdoor design.

We’re pleased to say the evening was a huge success with over 100 of our great customers and lots of top design press and stylists in attendance!

Our designers’ presentations were fascinating.  They covered a myriad of topics including the design challenges of working with this technically difficult product.   We learnt the secrets of all-weather materials and the latest trends in outdoor design.  Plus lots of interesting information about many forthcoming technological developments.  And (shhh) a few secrets of the trade along the way.

Go Modern’s indoor garden

Our inspiring ‘magical’ indoor garden room was created by top interiors stylist Hannah Bort.  Hannah and her team worked their special magic to transform our showroom into a wonderful indoor garden.  Staircases sprouted every type of greenery, we had a living-wall, some splendid decking and pretty outdoor lighting.

The San Collection

Lionel Doyen’s latest outdoor design for Manutti is the San Collection and it took pride of place in our window. San is a wonderful Japanese inspired range made from iroko wood.   As part of the evening’s Q&A, Lionel explained the design process behind his latest creation, including his choice of materials and the technical challenges involved.  San - a 2017 design for Manutti. Manutti’s Moon Island

We also found space for the awe-inspiring Manutti Moon Island collection.  It’s a range that is the height of luxury and wonderfully comfortable for lounging on (as our audience amply testified).  Above all it looks, and is, incredibly stylish.

Kumo

Another of Manutti’s latest ranges is Kumo.  This graced our lower-ground floor, sitting grandly aloft some of the specially created decking. The Kumo range has lots of colours to choose from and  we opted for a striking plum colour.

Hannah also accessorised the Kumo collection with some zingy Missoni Home cushions.  And it looked spectacular. The range is modular so we had fun playing around with the many different combinations possible.

At Go Modern we love to champion smaller design houses.  Therefore we were delighted to have the stunning ‘Leaf’ stools by Nicolette de Waart of ‘design by nico’.  Nicolette is one of the newest designers to join the Go Modern stable. Although the Leaf stools aren’t suitable for outdoor use they fitted our theme perfectly.

So look out for Manutti’s beautiful outdoor designs.  You’ll spot them on the terraces of luxury hotels, restaurants and spas around the world.  And we know that some of our most elegant residential London gardens display a few too!

Go Modern also has a very comfy terrace area where you can see just how well Manutti’s products withstand the elements.  So do pop in and take a look. We know you’ll be as impressed as we are.
