The August issue of Homes & Garden’s (out now) is a special treat this month. A whole section on ‘Outdoor Rooms’ with lots of superb styling tips from Kate French and Ali Brown. They talked about multi-functional furniture and upholstered sofas, all designed for outdoor use but looking good enough to house inside. Sofas layered with colourful cushions, made from all weather fabrics, and woven stools that can double as tables.
And across a double page spread (pgs 70/71)was our very own Manutti Flow sofa in pebble…
Doesn’t it look superb?! Kate and Ali styled the shot using brightly coloured textured cushions, and placed the sofa in front of a terracotta fire pit, surrounding it with red textured stools. Stunning! Continue reading “Outdoor Rooms – Homes & Gardens”
As soon as we saw these beautiful liquid bio ethanol fires from Cocoon fires Spain we fell in love. Curvy lines, designer looks & an open fire warmth, all for surprisingly reasonable prices. The collection is small – just three designs in two finishes, but work beautifully with our contemporary furniture. The two finishes are black, or stainless steel, & the steel is a marine grade stainless steel so all three can be used outdoors too.
No contemporary furniture collection is complete without sideboards, which have made a real comeback in the last few years. A great mix of the good looking & useful sideboards are great for virtually any room & are a fantastic way of adding extra storage while upping your interior style quotient. We have always had a large selection of modern, contemporary sideboards (we started with Casabella furniture’s high gloss Lucido collection, back in 2007 & kept going) – we now also have sideboards from Alivar, Bimax, Bonaldo, Europeo, Jesse Furniture, Tema Home & more. All except Tema Home (which is made in Portugal) are made in Italy.
We have a good range of finishes too, including the ever popular white gloss, as well as black sideboards, & sideboards in other matt & gloss lacquer colours, from bold red to the the new dove grey – a subtle alternative to white or cream. Quite a few of our sideboards come in wenge, which is a dark oak stained veneer & Canaletto walnut, a light Italian walnut that looks fantastic in a contemporary room. As there are so many choices our sideboards are usually made to order – so lead times are eight weeks or more.
One thing we are constantly asked by our customers is how child friendly various items of dining furniture are. No one wants a dining table that will break or have too many sharp edges, which usually rules out glass dining tables – but they also want something that isn’t possible to scratch/leave marks on, which rules out many of our lacquer & wood dining tables!
So when someone showed me a new collection of beautifully designed contemporary dining tables that use a brand new indestructible material that looks a lot like stone/slate/wood I snapped them up! Made in Italy, these table are extending (a big plus), very reasonably priced, & available in great designs & colours with matching child proof, affordable dining chairs.
We have one in our showroom so you can see for yourself how tough this material is. Here are three of my favourite dining tables from this collection, which can be seen here.
It might be grey outside, getting ready to rain but when the sun is shining there is no better place to be than on a comfortable sun lounger. My favourite? Also our most popular (& one of the most expensive) the Zendo sun lounger. Fully upholstered, all weather, ultra modern & easy to clean. Perfect. You can see the equally fab Zendo sofa in the background too.
Many bedrooms these days are much smaller than we would like, especially in major cities like London, New York, Tokyo & Paris – & its not likely that this will change at any time in the near future! So, it’s time to get inventive when it comes to modern bedroom furniture, & fortunately with the advent of the internet we have plenty of options. Continue reading “6 ways to decorate a small bedroom”
