Molteni Porta Volta Dining Chair

The Porta Volta luxury dining chair marks a new chapter of collaboration between the historic Italian designer furniture brand Molteni&C and a renowned international architectural firm, long-term partners of the Molteni Group. With unparalleled attention to detail and exceptional materials, it suits any dining room, living space or office.

The aim was a chair with an armrest that is comfortable, welcoming and commodious: "Like a room to sit down in - rather than just sitting down on something."

This beautiful chair has a deep upholstered seat and a solid wood back. The floating backrest extends around the perimeter of the seat in a U-shape, reaching forward to create the armrests, and rests on 3 intersecting wooden U-frames with a special curved bent "finger joint" detail at their rounded corners.

The legs and the support for the back are angled slightly outwards, giving a sense of stability and generosity while adding extra comfort. Available in high-quality solid American walnut, or solid ash stained in eucalyptus, black oak, sunrise oak or graphite oak. The thick padded seat, carefully rendered for the utmost comfort, is available in a wide range of fabrics and leathers as well as a Mohair velvet, an exclusive fabric collection of 4 custom-made colours.

There are two sizes to choose from. The first is suited for dining and has a seat back height of 71cm, while the second is a low chair only 66cm high, intended for a living room or bedroom, as it is the ideal height to place next to a sofa or armchair for comfortable conversation.

A standout feature of Porta Volta is the optional padding on the backrest, a rectangular cushion that attaches onto the wooden beam, also available in a range of fabrics and leathers, so the chair can be customised to suit a multitude of interior concepts.

Pictured here with the Old Ford and Mateo dining tables, the Porta Volta chair will also match any of Molteni's sofas or armchairs and their extensive range of dining tables or desks. Our interior design service can help you bring the whole room together.
