The Molteni&C Gio Ponti D.157.6 Due Foglie sofa is a luxury large armchair or loveseat from the Molteni Heritage catalogue, paying homage to historic design figure Gio Ponti.

It takes inspiration from Ponti's stunning design for Villa Planchart in Caracas, commissioned in 1954 by Anala and Armando Planchart, ardent admirers of his diverse talents. The sofa, one of the villa's iconic features, takes centre stage in the 2024 Collection under the name D.157.6, its current title in the Gio Ponti Archive.

Working with the Gio Ponti Archives and partly unpublished technical and photographic documentation, Molteni&C re-introduced the Due Foglie sofa in the Heritage collection as close as possible to the original while using sustainable construction technologies.

Originally named Due Foglie for its seamless curvilinear shape, reminiscent of a pod and two elongated leaves, the D.157.6 loveseat rests on a delicate trestle structure with a metallic finish. Its defining feature is the foam structure, specially shaped by two moulds, which offers a unique seating experience: spacious and comfortable for one, yet perfect for the intimate conversations or quiet moments of two.

A wide selection of fabrics and leathers, chosen for both visual appeal and performance, allows rare personalisation of such a legendary piece. The D.157.6 revives the charm of a bygone era.

The Gio Ponti archive, a wellspring of inspiration, continues to inform Molteni&C's style, blending historical values with a forward-looking perspective.
