The Molteni Gio Ponti D.156.3 is a modern Italian designer armchair from the Molteni&C Gio Ponti Collection, re-issuing furniture by Gio Ponti, the great Twentieth century architect and designer.
Originally made for Altamira, an American company founded by the nephew of the Spaniard De Cuevas, the D.156.3 was shown in the company's New York showroom alongside pieces by other leading Italian designers, chosen from the most representative exhibitors at the 10th Milan Triennale.
Exclusively remade by Molteni&C, it has a solid American walnut or black semi-matt lacquered frame, assembled and sandpapered by hand and wiped with aniline dyes. The elastic, ergonomic seat and back support bands come in black or hunter green.
The non-removable cushion covers can be chosen in any fabric or leather from the Molteni&C textile range, or you can provide your own fabric, subject to approval by Molteni. Our design team can send samples and discuss the options.
Every piece carries a serial number and complies with the design and materials in the original Gio Ponti documents, with a screen-printed signature as a further guarantee of origin and authenticity.
Other pieces from the Gio Ponti collection - dining tables, sideboards, armchairs, coffee tables, shelving, rugs and accessories - are in the related products below.
