Designed in 1953 for Gio Ponti's private house in via Dezza, Milan, the Molteni Gio Ponti D.153.1 armchair is re-issued by luxury Italian furniture brand Molteni&C from the original drawings in the Gio Ponti Archives.

Covers come in two-coloured leather or Punteggiato velvet, both highly distinctive. The velvet, designed by Ponti in 1934, updates the age-old technique of velvet-weaving with contemporary patterns.

You can also choose any fabric or leather from the Molteni&C textile range, or provide your own fabric, subject to approval by Molteni; our design team can send samples. Legs are heat-sealed steel with a satin brass finish, with non-slip plastic feet.

The D.153.1 belongs to the Gio Ponti collection, a project from Molteni&C re-issuing furniture by the great Twentieth century architect and designer. Every piece carries a serial number and complies with the design and materials in the original Gio Ponti documents, and a screen-printed signature further guarantees its origin and authenticity.

Colours & Finishes

Legs are in heat-sealed steel with a satin brass finish. Feet in non-slip plastic.

Covers; two-coloured leather: white L212 / blue L100; paper white S1211 / sand S1222; dove grey L209 / dark brown L216.
Punteggiato velvet, as well as fabrics and leathers from the Molteni Collection range, or in customer’s own fabric, subject to approval of fabric type by Molteni.

Samples of all Molteni & C fabrics and leathers are available to see at our showroom, or we can send specific fabric samples to you on request.

Delivery is to the room of your choice, & includes assembly, unpacking & removal of packaging - although please check your order carefully before our delivery team leave as in the unlikely event of a problem we may need to return an item to the factory & will need the original packaging to do so.
