The Glas Italia Bisel coffee table by Patricia Urquiola is crafted from multi-layered, multichromatic glass, showcasing a sophisticated fusion of artistry and innovation. Each piece is made by laminating five layers of 5mm extralight glass, with each layer incorporating a different coloured film. The result is a unique, vibrant material with remarkable depth and transparency.
The glass sheets are cut into varied geometric shapes, then finely ground, polished, and meticulously “faceted” with distinctive bevels. These bevels accentuate the interplay of colours and light, transforming each piece into a luminous, sculptural form.
Using an advanced gluing technique, the individual glass elements are seamlessly bonded together, achieving a flawless and transparent finish. This precision process gives rise to stunning “furniture jewels” — objects that are both functional and visually captivating.
Available in two sizes in either a green, or ochre finish, there is also a matching Bisel console table which can be seen in the related products.
