The VU 90 mirror by Giovanni Tommaso Garattoni for Tonelli Design, Italy, is not a mirror in the usual sense, as it is actually made of extra clear glass strips of different thicknesses welded together on a mirror back.
Each finished mirror is made up of 30cm wide panels, & as well as the VU panels shown here.
Originally designed to commemorate 25 years of business for Tonelli Design, each panel has 22 glass strips, which are positioned by hand onto the mirror, glued together and then UV-welded. The panels are then bonded on to a black, matt lacquered wooden back.
The VU 90 in the photo consists of 3 panels, but it can be any size you want, starting with just a single panel. There is also a larger VU 200 mirror (a separate product).
Specialists in glass, Tonelli make fantastic contemporary mirrors & glass furniture & work with some very well known designers. To see their whole collection click here, or click to go to our main contemporary mirrors section.
