The Tribu Otto garden coffee table by Marc Merckx was inspired by a rhythmic ‘ribbon’ pattern, often found in Italian bar counters from the ’40s. Made in Belgium Otto is available in a variety of sizes and in two different heights.
The Otto collection also references ancient architectural pillars with their typical fluted pattern. Using merely one simple element, an endless yet interesting surface can be created, not only significantly reducing the waste of precious teak wood, but creating a durable timeless design that suits many outdoor purposes and will match all of Tribu's seating collections.
The teak base is made from hand selected A-grade teak grown on plantations in East Java. The table top can be in teak to match the base; or in sabbia or scisto ceramic both of which are scratch, UV, water and weather proof, with a delicate cloudy pattern giving a subtle, luxurious appearance. The scisto ceramic finish may feature delicate veins.
It is also possible to choose the table top in Travertine, a captivating natural stone which boasts unique characteristics. Formed by mineral deposits in natural springs, it features a distinctive porous texture that lends an elegant and rustic charm. Its soft, neutral tones range from warm beige to cool grey, ensuring that every top is unique. This originality is intensified by the stain-sensitive nature of the material. Oil, red wine, as well as other liquids and acids are absorbed, resulting in a permanent stain. This makes it a ‘living thing’ that, in time, displays subtle changes in colour and even surface structure. A product that becomes more and more unique with use, perfect for people who appreciate a table with personality.
There are also two matching Otto dining tables which can be seen in the related products.
