This is the Molteni & C Mateo lounge table, a lower version of their classic Mateo table and perfect for armchair or sofa dining. Designed by Vincent Van Duysen this low level table will look great in your living room and is certain to bring an easy-going atmosphere to any interior space.
Elegant and minimal, a striking feature of the Mateo table is its slightly flared cylindrical pedestal base which has been divided vertically in two. Made of a curved plywood structure, the symmetrical halves meet in an open furrow, creating a completely new and unexpected design element. The internal frame is further strengthened by a hidden rod in lacquered metal which ensures stiffness where the base meets the top.
Available in three round sizes, the table top which tapers slightly at the edges, can be selected in glossy lacquer in any of the Molteni range of colours, two wood finishes; coffee or sunrise oak, or several marble options with either a matt or glossy polyester finish. For the base you can choose from the same wood or gloss lacquer finishes as well as a burnished matt lacquer metal finish
You could also add a Lazy Susan, a rotating central tray, a typical part of oriental culture which allows all diners to be served in a practical way, creating intimate moments of conviviality. Available in calacatta, emperador dark, or black marquina marble in two sizes; 80cm and 100cm.
