Outdoor Rooms – Homes & Gardens

The August issue of Homes & Garden’s (out now) is a special treat this month.  A whole section on ‘Outdoor Rooms’ with lots of superb styling tips from Kate French and Ali Brown.  They talked about multi-functional furniture and upholstered sofas, all designed for outdoor use but looking good enough to house inside.  Sofas layered with colourful cushions, made from all weather fabrics, and woven stools that can double as tables.

And across a double page spread (pgs 70/71)was our very own Manutti Flow sofa in pebble…

Doesn’t it look superb?!  Kate and Ali styled the shot using brightly coloured textured cushions, and placed the sofa in front of a terracotta fire pit, surrounding it with red textured stools.  Stunning!

One of our best selling brands, Belgian company Manutti specialise in exceptional contemporary outdoor furniture that looks like great quality indoor furniture. Fully covered in Nautic fabric, with special quick dry outdoor foam the Flow range has been a runaway success, but Manutti make several other fully upholstered outdoor sofa/chair collections too.

And our Japan planters got a look in on their Lifestyle news page. Trend Watch with ‘Lace Planters’: ‘designers are now transforming ever day products such as the humble garden planter into magical objects of delicate beauty’.  Well, we couldn’t agree more!

Summer is coming – our first batch of new garden furniture releases

Summer is on it’s way – well it was the other day – we were the height of daring in the showroom and some of us ventured out without coats! And it will be summer again in a few months … definitely … it really will arrive at some point, which is why we don’t think it’s too early to talk about our latest collection from Spain.

With a few new concepts and a few additions to an existing range, designs take their cues from Japan and Africa, and include distinctive origami inspirations to stunning, colourful tribal patterns. Of course everything is made to order, and whilst lead times on garden furniture are slightly shorter you will still need to allow a good four weeks – and with summer starting in May (it really will!) nowadays ordering soon is probably a wise decision.

How about some garden origami – seriously…the striking crisp, sharp lines of the new Pinata range are incredible (although it goes without saying a lot heavier than the paper sort) as they’re made from weather resistant acrylic, and like all our garden furniture they can stay out in all weathers, they’re UV resistant and totally cleanable.

But if the grey of an English summer sky finally got to you last year, conjure up your own savannah  experience with the colourful  tribal inspired creations of Joaquinn Homs.  Hand-woven synthetic rattan across high-backed armchairs, side-tables and sun loungers. Go on, be daring… be queen of your own garden for a summer…

What can we say – Esther Campos’ new range cleverly entitled Nautic (because we think it summons up a bygone age of opulence, elegance and life on the ocean wave …but with our usual demand of a contemporary twist) has undulating tubular arms and is made from super long-lasting epoxy lacquered aluminium. Luxuriously comfortable and shown here in white ecoleather. There’s also a matching side table, coffee table, corner table, sofa and chair.  Keep it white or cover in a fabric of your choice (go on … be daring!)

We don’t have favourites…ok we do, sometimes, and the classic ‘U’ is probably one of them (well… until our next trip to Milan in a few weeks…).  The high-backed ‘U’ chair is just elegance personified (if a range of furniture can be personified!).  It’s pictured here indoors but… it loves being outdoors, any weather, anytime of year …so ha British summer …we don’t care – do your worst!  It loves the heat too and is cool and comfortable even in 40 degrees (well, we can dream).  Lots of lovely matching tables, side tables and a lovely sofa – have we said lovely enough yet?

So, all we need now are a few rays…

We love sun loungers!

It might be grey outside, getting ready to rain but when the sun is shining there is no better place to be than on a comfortable sun lounger. My favourite? Also our most popular (& one of the most expensive) the Zendo sun lounger. Fully upholstered, all weather, ultra modern & easy to clean. Perfect. You can see the equally fab Zendo sofa in the background too.

Another favourite of mine is Cane-Line’s Kingston One X Sun Lounger, I just love their white weave & it’s got a fantastic matching sunchair.

We have a good collection of sunloungers in our sunloungers section from £420 to £7660, by manufacturers including Smania, Manutti, Point, Calma, Cane-Line & more but if you are buying your sun lounger with other garden furniture its definitely best to talk to us on 020 7731 9540 as we can advise on what matches what!

We have even written an article – read our ode to sun loungers here.
