TULIP ROUND DINING TABLE
Made in Italy our superb version of this classic round dining table has a laquered cast aluminium base, and is available in either black or white with either a black Marquina marble top, or a white laminate or Carrera marble top. The protective finish resists scratches and scuffs and guards the tabletop against staining. We absolutely guarantee you will not find a better quality Tulip style table on the market.
The son of a celebrated Finnish Architect, sculptor and architect Eero Saarinen (1910-1961) was a proponent of the organic style. With the observation that “the underside of typical chairs and tables makes a confusing, unrestful world,” Eero Saarinen set out to distill modern dining designs into sculptural, holistic structures.
The result was his pedestal collection (1956), named for the designs’ exquisite cast aluminum bases. Winner of the 1969 Museum of Modern Art Award, the Tulip is Saarinen's genius solution to clearing up what he saw as the "slum of legs" that populates the under-carriage of most dining sets.
