EILEEN GRAY BIBENDUM CHAIR
Neglected for most of her career, Eileen Gray (1878-1976) is now regarded as one of the most important furniture designers and architects of the early 20th century and the most influential woman in those fields. Her work inspired both Modernism and Art Deco.
Named by Eileen after Michelin's mascot - Bibendum, (aka the Michelin Man), Eileen Gray created the utterly unique leather Bibendum armchair design in 1926, although it was largely forgotten until 1972, when an original surfaced in an auction.
Made in Italy to the very highest standards, our version of the Bibendum chair has a hardwood frame and is covered in beautiful Italian leather. The base is the highest quality chrome plated steel. It complies with all UK fire regulations & has a 5 year manufacturer’s guarantee.
The Bibendum chair is available in black, chocolate brown, cognac, ivory, red, tan or white leather. There are two leather grades, standard (a high quality Italian top grain leather, soft & hard wearing), & full aniline (the smooth & soft - and the hardest wearing)
