CHARLES & RAY EAMES

Charles Ormond Eames, Jr (1907 - 1978) was an American designer, architect and filmmaker who, together with his wife Ray, is responsible for many classic, iconic designs of the 20th century. He was born in Saint Louis, Missouri, and briefly studied architecture at Washington University. He left school after two years and began working with a local architectural practice on mostly residential projects.

Together the husband & wife team adventurously pursued new ideas and forms with a sense of "serious fun." Yet, it was rigorous discipline that allowed them to achieve perfection of form and mastery over materials. Combining imagination and thought, art and science, Charles and Ray Eames created some of the most influential expressions of 20th century design - furniture that remains stylish, fresh and functional today.
