Among the most elegant of the chairs designed by German designer Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969) is the opulent leather Barcelona Chair. The Barcelona chair was developed for the German Pavilion at the 1929 International Exhibition in Barcelona, as the German Pavilion was to be the setting for the official opening ceremony.
